What to Expect
You're In Good Hands!
At your first appointment, you will meet with our hygienist. First, digital x-rays will be taken. Then, we will then use Diagnodent®, a high-tech laser assisted detection device. Don’t worry, it’s painless! This technology allows our hygienist to diagnose areas of tooth decay, uncovering problems that could not be seen yet by x-rays.
We love helping our patients understand why dental procedures are essential. They understand why treatment matters, and how to improve their oral health in the future. From there, we can come up with the best plan to keep your teeth healthy.
Common Questions
First Visit FAQS
When should my child first see the dentist?
We recommend bringing your child in for an exam within six months of their first tooth appearing, or no later than their first birthday, whichever comes first.
My child has dental anxiety, can you help?
Absolutely. We work hard to make every visit fun and low-stress for both kids and parents. If your child needs a little extra help relaxing, we also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) as a safe, gentle option.
Do you provide orthodontic services for kids?
We monitor your child's bite and jaw development as they grow and can use early intervention methods, like space maintainers, when appropriate. If they eventually need an orthodontist, we'll help make sure the timing is right, never too early, never too late.
How can I help keep my child's teeth cavity-free?
Good brushing and flossing habits at home, paired with regular hygiene visits, go a long way. We also offer sealants for kids, which add an extra layer of protection to the cavity-prone areas of their teeth.
What if my child needs a filling or other treatment?
We'll walk both you and your child through exactly what to expect beforehand, so nothing feels like a surprise. Our goal is always to keep the experience calm and age-appropriate.
At what age should my child stop seeing a pediatric-focused dentist?
There's no strict cutoff. We work with your child through every stage, from their first tooth through their teenage years, adjusting our approach as they grow.
